7 Little Things Every New Mother Should Know
Your doctor may be your perfect guide during your pregnancy and delivery but you can never be prepared enough for what’s to come after the baby is born. We give you a list of little things that every new mother should know.
1. You may not fall in love with the baby instantly
Do not fall victim to what you see in the movies or what others have told you. It may so happen that you may not feel an instant bond with your baby just after he or she is born and that is perfectly OK. Do not panic. Once you spend some time with the new born, you will eventually start feeling a strong connection that will hold good for the rest of your life.
2. Spend time with the baby
No toy or game can ever make up for your absence. It is extremely important to spend as much time as you can with the baby in his or her early months. The quality of time that you spend with your child at these initial stages will lay the foundation for your future relationship with each other.
3. Your mood affects the child
Even if you are spending ample amount of time with your baby, it would be worthless if you are irritated, angry, or frustrated all the while. Even a new born is exquisitely sensitive to his or her mother’s mood and it will negatively affect the baby’s growth.
4. Try to answer the silly questions
As your child learns to talk, you will be asked ‘silly’ questions like “Why is the sky blue?” or “Why does the dog have four legs?” These little queries may annoy you to bits but it is important keep your calm at these times. You need not give a scientifically correct reply to everything that your child asks, but make sure you do not suppress his or her imagination and curiosity by telling the child to shut up.
