Instead of leaving all the crisis management for your senior managers or bosses, be proactive and take some initiative in helping them out. Observe how they strategize for solutions and offer your inputs. This will give you an edge in the eyes of your seniors and you will also be able to learn about dealing with a crisis first hand.

5. Look for the positives in a crisis

When you are handling a crisis, it can be extremely difficult to think about the positives hidden in the situation. But remind yourself that most big opportunities come disguised as problems. Thinking creatively and approaching the crisis in an innovative way will help you uncover such hidden opportunities. For example, if your company has halted the manufacturing process of a product because of sudden unavailability of a resource, thinking for an alternative may help you to explore other resources that are cheaper and more durable.

6. Get external opinion

If the crisis that has hit your company is of a large magnitude, you may require external help. This help can be given in the monetary form or through human resources. If you are in a position to make management decisions, think about where you can outsource such help from. There is nothing wrong in asking for help when you have to deal with a big crisis.
