6 Ways Men and Women are Still Not Treated Equally
4. Responsibility of upbringing of children is not shared
The onus of bringing up children is laid on the women which is not fair at all. Although women today are working and contributing equally to the income, they have the additional responsibility of rearing the child almost single-handedly despite the presence of a man in the house. Also, if the child does something wrong, then people are quick to blame the mother; hardly anyone ever blames the father.
5. The constant bias behavior practiced at workplace
Gender bias at the workplace is a harsh truth all over the world which prevents women in taking up higher positions at companies. Many a time women are as qualified as men, but they are not chosen to do the required work because people have the misconception that men are more reliable and work harder. Women are also paid lesser and get promoted less frequently than men for the same amount and quality of work. No wonder why more than 90% of the managerial board of most corporations is made up of men.
6. Denial to higher education
Besides social evils like foeticide of girls and child marriages, mostly done in Asian, African and Middle Eastern countries, there is also the problem of equal education for males and females. In many parts of the world, girls are given second preference and their education is stopped to primary level while the boys in the family go on to study at higher levels. Girls are married off early and have to depend on their husbands for money because they don’t have any option of employment owing to their low level of education.
