4. Chocolate was considered to be a “love drug”
In the ancient times when the goodness of factory made chocolate was not yet invented, it was seen as a kind of a drug that induced romantic feelings by Mexican chief Montezuma. He is said to have had a habit of drinking upto 50 cups of chocolate daily prior to visiting his harem of 600 women. Mind you, chocolate then didn’t have sugar added and was of the very bitter cocoa bean variety.

It seems the poetry and stories that were inspired from the feeling of love and glorified it weren’t that far off the mark.
