A marriage is an act of commitment. It is a promise you make to the other person to stay together come what may. However a marriage license or a wedding ceremony does not alone make sure that your marriage lasts and is a success. It is a quite complex relationship and involves a lot of commitment, sacrifices and balancing acts. Although you enter into a contract with someone, pledging to share your life, you happiness and sorrows and sicknesses, there aren’t any written set of rules that is handed down to every couple. There are also no given instructions or perfect examples one can follow to have a perfect marriage. However there are a set of unwritten rules you need to follow to make sure that you get what you want out of a marriage; love, warmth, trust and stability.
1. Unconditional love
Living together with someone and having to share most aspects of your life with that someone can be a trying, difficult thing to do. If there is a way to overcome it, it is to have unconditional love for the other person. Even though you get married to seal your love, it is important that your love grows and develops into a special bond after the wedding.
2. Trust
A lot of marriages crumble and fail because there is little or no trust left between the partners. Blind trust is hard to come by and can make you look like an idiot many times, but it is important that you trust the person you are married to.
3. Accessibility
Staying the same house does not always mean that you are accessible to your partner. Being accessible means being open and warm, it means giving your partner the belief that they can come to you at any time and discuss freely whatever they have in their minds.
