6 Tips on How to Tell Your Partner You have an STD
Anyone can have a sexually transmitted disease these days. Being promiscuous or having multiple partners can increase the risk, but you can still get it from the one different guy you slept with after years of being with the same guy. Now that you have tested yourself and found out that you have a STD, what do you do? It is a delicate situation. You do not want to upset your new partner, but still feel morally obligated to tell him the truth. That in itself is a good start. It is very important that you tell the other person what you have and give them a chance to either opt out or take proper protection.
1. Be upfront
Tell them straight away about the disease that you have. Leave the ball in their court and let them decide if they want to take it further with you. If not anything, your honesty will be greatly appreciated.
2. Apologize
If you found out about it after you have had sex, apologize to your partner and ask him to get tested immediately.
3. Take your time if you feel that’s the right thing
If you think you might have a chance of being forgiven if you confess to it in the later stages of your relationship, do it. But think over all the possibilities and go ahead only if you are sure.
