An affair can be highly damaging to everyone involved. It not only affects you but it has a detrimental effect on those around you, the people who are dependent on you for love, affection and companionship. So inevitably you are left with a huge baggage and a massive amount of guilt over what you have done and what you had put the others through. 1. Accept that you have made a mistake
You might have had an affair for any reason; it might have been justifiable to you at that point. But now that it is done with, accept that it was a mistake. Only then can you think about forgiving yourself.
2. Get over the guilt
Holding on to the guilt will not help either you or your relationship. Get over it and start a new chapter in your life. You can start forgiving yourself when you feel less guilty about what you did.
