6 Tips for Wine Tasting

4. Attack Phase

After you taste, the first impression is the ‘Attack Phase’ that the wine makes on your taste buds. This phase completes the four contents of wine, namely alcohol content, tannin levels, acidity and residual sugar. The Attack Phase does not give the exact flavor of wine, but you get the feel of the intensity, lightness, crispness and sweetness of the wine.

5. Evolution Phase

After the Attack Phase, there comes the Evolution Phase. Just as the name suggests, in this stage, the real taste of wine evolves. You can distinguish between the various flavors like berry, plum, prune or fig, along with some spice like pepper, clove, or cinnamon. Woody flavors like oak and cedar add to the smokiness in the drink, accentuating the taste.

6. The Finish

This is the final stage where you sip and gulp down the wine, and experience the impression of the flavors for a certain period of time. This stage will also give you the real consistency of wine, whether it is watery, milky or creamy in nature. In this stage, you will come to know how you like the overall taste of the wine. The taste differs from individual to individual, and hence, it becomes important to choose your preferred flavor.

These are some tips to help you gain the knowledge of wine tasting. A complete wine is quite balanced and gives you a satisfying finish. When you know the process of wine tasting, drinking wine becomes much more enjoyable, as you can understand the characteristics of various types of wines.
