6 Skin Care Myths Debunked
Myth 4: Use hot water to deep cleanse the skin
Many women believe that using hot water is the best way to cleanse pores of the skin. While using hot water may make you feel rejuvenated and refreshed, excessive exposure can actually dehydrate and dry the skin up. If you have a cleaning-toning-moisturizing routine for your face and body, it is best to use cold or lukewarm water. Even when you are having a hot water bath, don’t soak in it for too long.
Myth 5: It is important to use skin care products everyday
Advertising and popular culture have enforced the association of women with a plethora of skin care cosmetics. If you believe in this myth, you should debunk it right away. While it is good to have a skin care routine and use basic moisturizers and body creams, it is not imperative just because you are a woman. If you feel confident and comfortable without makeup or daily skin scrubbing, it is perfectly fine to go natural.
Myth 6: Use separate creams for day and night
A lot of skincare myths have been generated by the cosmetic industry for marketing and advertising purposes. Day cream and night creams are an example. Dermatologists and research in this area point towards the fact that skin doesn’t react differently to creams that are labeled separately for day and night. So the next time you are shelling out extra monies to buy separate day, night or evening creams, remember that you may be succumbing to a marketing gimmick.
