6 Reasons Why Having a Pet Doesn’t Prepare You for Parenthood
4. A pet does not come with moral responsibility
When you bring home a pet, you are not burdened with the responsibility of raising it into a disciplined, responsible and good-natured dog. However, with your baby, you will need to teach him/her discipline, educate him/her and make him/her a good and honorable human being.
5. Bringing up a pet is not that costly
If you think that your finances are good enough to support a pet, and so it is good enough for a baby’s upbringing, then you are mistaken. A pet will cost only a fraction of your income, as compared to a baby. And you need to plan and save for the future of the baby, not just deal with the baby’s day-to-day expenses.
6. Pets are self-sufficient, kids are not
You can set up food and water for your pet and leave it for a whole day without a worry. But you could never expect a kid to take care of himself/herself, at least not until they are of an appropriate age.
To conclude, while bringing up a pet will teach you a lot of things like time management, budget planning and putting the pet’s needs before your from time to time, it will never fully prepare you for parenthood.
