6 Most Common Phobias
Phobia, from the Greek word ‘phobos’ is described as an extreme or irrational fear about something. It could be fear over anything, sometimes harmless and at times, life threatening. Most of us fear snakes, cats, dogs, mosquitoes and even flies. Some of us fear closed spaces, like elevators, tunnels, etc., while others fear crowded spaces and people. We give you some of the most common phobias.
1. Stage fright or glossophobia
Ever been on stage, forgotten everything and felt like a total idiot? You are not alone. Stage fright is a common symptom of glossophobia, the fear of talking or communicating with a group.
2. Fear of cockroaches or katsaridaphobia
We know they are harmless, but still some of us scream and run away from them. They do not bite, yet we are scared of them and wonder why their favorite place is the bathroom.
3. Fear of closed spaces or claustrophobia
You feel like you can’t breathe and the world is shrinking around you and yet all you are doing is taking the elevator or passing through a tunnel. Many of us get over it easily but for some it may be fatal.
