6 Health Tips for Women in Their 50s
4. Take your Doctor’s Advice
Inform your physician/gynecologist of your family medical history, as certain diseases, including heart disease, hypertension and diabetes, can stem from preceding generations. Consult your gynecologist for advice on contraceptives and go for any tests your doctor advises you to take. Pap smear tests, mammograms, diabetes, thyroid and colorectal cancer screening tests, and skin-eye-dental check-ups should be taken as advised. Do not start or stop any therapy on your own.
5. Exercise Regularly
Swimming, cycling, running or walking briskly for half-an-hour every alternate day benefits all healthy folks but activities such as housework, gardening and walking leisurely daily for a while also help in having a healthy heart and circulatory system. However, check with your doctor before embarking on any exercise regimen.
6. Sleep Well
As you exercise regularly, you’ll be able to sleep better, which in turn, will improve your health and allow you to handle stress more resiliently!
