4. Alcohol
If the mention of chocolate jerked you up from your slumber, this is definitely gonna throw you out of your bed: alcohol may initially help you doze off, but after its effect has worn off, you won’t be able to sleep no matter how hard you try. Now, it may not be a very good choice to get tipsy if you have a whole lot work ahead of you, but it does give you a reason not to give that party a miss just because you have a hell lot of paperwork at night.
5. Energy drinks
Now we won’t go around advertising any brands, but unless you have been living under a rock this long, you must have definitely come across a zillion energy drinks in the market. They not only taste great but also provide you with all the energy and stimulant you would possibly need for a sleepless night. But every good thing has a downside and the same is true for energy drinks since once the effect wears off, it will leave you more tired than before.
6. Ice-cold water
Could this list have got any weirder? Yes right, the refrigerator is your best friend if you want to stay awake at night. Keep going up to it all night long to grab a bottle of cold water and even splash some on your face. This will help counter sleep in two ways-first, the freezing temperature will jolt up even the most hardcore of sleepers; and secondly, you will have to dash off to the restroom every now and then to prevent that bladder of yours from bursting.
