5 Ways To Deal With Kids With Behavior Problems
Even before we start discussing this issue, we want you to nail the following sentence in your head. ‘Discipline starts at home’. How and where else will your child learn how to be well-mannered and well-behaved? Here are top 5 ‘don’ts’ that you can use to control your unruly child.
1. Don’t back out on a promised punishment
Do you know what we are talking about? Have you told your child that you’d ground them for a week, but you didn’t do it because you felt sorry for them? Big mistake, woman. If your kids think that they can get away from punishment by crying or sobbing, they will keep misbehaving because they know how to wriggle out of a punishment!
2. Don’t allow visiting friends or family to set examples of bad behavior
We see many children picking up bad traits of their uncles or aunts, or even friends of their mothers. If that is happening in your household, don’t tolerate it. Ask the bad influences to either behave properly when they’re visiting home, or not to visit at all. This will send a strong message to your undisciplined child that bad behavior will not be tolerated.
3. Don’t indulge in bad behavior yourself
Do you use swear words at home when you get frustrated? We all have moments of frustration, ladies. But that does not mean you should drop the ‘F Bomb’ every now and then. If your kids find you uttering profanity in the house, they too will start using bad language at home and outside. Don’t let that happen.
