5 Tips to Protect Your Knees
You stand on your feet for a major portion of your life, running around, climbing stuff, running errands and many more things. The result is that you feel a sharp pain, a popping noise or a funny sensation when you are walking, bending down or just getting up after sitting for a long time in your knees. These are signs that you have damaged your knees and time to protect them from further damage. Women are more prone to Knee damage than men, and more so as they get older, especially after menopause. Her are a few tips that would help you protect your knees.
1. Use those high heels for special occasions only
High heels not only change your posture and hurt your feet, but also do some major damage to your knees. So if you are a lover of high heels, keep them for special occasions and even then make sure you take good rest in between to not damage your knees.
2. Do not jog or run in hard surfaces
Jogging and running is good for your body, but when you do it on a hard surface like a concrete road or other hard surfaces, you are putting a lot of strain on your already overworked knees. Jogging and running in the sand is a better alternative to save your knees.
3. Make sure your joints are lubricated before you start exercising
This can be done by applying a thermal wrap around your knees for about 20-30 minutes before you start your workout. By doing this, you can prevent knee damage caused by friction. Make sure your knees loosen up before you work them. Do a lot of stretching before you start running or exercising.
