5 Tips to Improve Your Knitting Skills
4. Make use of double-pointed needle
In the beginning you may find single needles comfortable to work with, but over time, you will realize that for circular objects which have curvy shapes such as socks, crown of hats, etc., double-pointed needles work better. When casting on for knitting with double-pointed needles, cast only onto one needle and then distribute the stitches onto the other needles as needed.
5. Learn to make an I-Cord
It is not that tough to make an I-Cord as people consider it to be. It is very helpful for making belts, headbands and straps for purses. After a few stitches, when you are done knitting the first row, make the stitches slide to the opposite end of the needle. Now that the working yarn is at the bottom of the row, you have to knit again while pulling the working yarn up the back of the piece. Shift the stitches to the opposite end of the needle again and keep repeating this action. As you keep pulling the yarn, the back will close up on itself and make an I-Cord.
