5 Reasons Why Tanning Is Bad For You
4. Tanning is a costly beauty fix
Unless you are one of the lucky few who do not have to worry about money, tanning digs hole in your pocket. Of course I am not talking about the ‘free’ tan you get at the beach, I am talking about your regular visits to the solarium and much more. The market today is awash with many tanning products – dyes, tanning lotions, creams, tanning sprays, bronzers, tinted creams, tan accelerators, spray tanning booths and many other fake tan products. What may seem like a small expense may turn into a habit and before you know, it may become a fixed part of your monthly budget. Is this really worth it? Can’t you see how celebrities like Julia Roberts, Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and many more pale-skinned beauties have rocked the big screens?
5. ‘Safe-tan’ does not exist
Millions of women around the world are misled by those false advertisements of solarium operators by cosmetic companies, and I feel no shame in admitting that I was a victim too. For years I believed that a special type of sunlamp was safe, as suggested by a top beautician at the local salon. Little did I know that the she was also a partner at the so-called safe tan place that she recommended ‘just-for-me’! So always remember that until technology and medical professionals come up with the next big invention, there is no such thing as safe-tanning. Medical research suggests that even tan accelerators and fake tanning sprays have possible side effects on your skin.
‘Sun-kissed’ brown skin has forever eluded us and we’ve gone to many lengths to achieve that complexion. I suggest that you take another look in the mirror and see how beautiful your fair skin actually is. If you must, try and enhance your features with the help of some makeup and be comfortable in your own skin. Your skin does not deserve to be handled harshly. By now you should know why tanning is bad for you and hopefully you will think twice before entering the doors of the local solarium.
