5 Reasons Why Quentin Tarantino is a Rocking Director

4. His honesty about his preferences

Quentin Tarantino is one director who has always been very open about his views on different kinds of films, and his preferences in terms of what he wants to make. He often tells people that he went to films and not a film school. That could probably be the reason why he was able to build his own unique style of filmmaking, as he was raw and grasped in everything from the different films he saw rather than being given any instructions on what is right or what is wrong. Biopics do not interest him. He once said openly that biopics are just excuses for actors to win Oscars, and that he finds biopics very boring. He also once mentioned that he would want to retire from films at the age of 60 to focus on writing novels.

5. His technical style with camera angles and props

Tarantino has mastered some camera angles, and has used them in all his films. For instance, he always has reverse car trunk shots in his films. In ‘Reservoir Dogs’, it was Mr. Brown, Mr. White and Mr. Pink looking at Marvin Mash, and in ‘Pulp Fiction’ it was Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, while in ‘Kill Bill’ it was the Bride looking at Sofie Fatale, who was in the car. Similarly, Tarantino also uses the same kind of props in all his films, like the Samurai swords or gas cans, or black and white suits with his characters. It is as if he has perfected the usage of all these elements in his films, and uses them repeatedly to keep the audience hooked and interested at all times.

Tarantino’s films are studied in great depth in a lot of film schools all over the world. He is a true believer in creating distinct individual styles, and anybody who is inspired from him should technically develop their own styles rather than imitating his.
