3 Homemade Body Scrubs You Can Try Out
Our skin cells are engaged in constant generation of new cells, which pushes the older cells towards the upper most layers of the skin. These old cells are generally dead and they appear flaky along with trapping dust and pollution, making the skin appear lifeless. Regular exfoliation of both the face and body using good quality scrub is important and should be integrated in your daily skin care regime. Here are a few homemade body scrubs that are good at exfoliation and are easy to make.
1. Oatmeal and Honey Scrub
Ingredients:
1 cup ground oatmeal
½ cup refined sugar
½ cup coffee powder
½ cup honey
1 teaspoon Virgin Olive Oil
Preparation:
Add all the ingredients in a jar and stir them till they mix well into a paste. Use this scrub once every week to naturally exfoliate those dead cells and reveal youthful and radiant skin. This paste can be stored in a jar and used till three months.
2. Orange and Lemon Scrub
Ingredients:
1 cup cooked Oatmeal
½ cup desiccated orange peel
½ cup desiccated lemon peel
1 cup thoroughly blanched almonds
Preparation:
All the ingredients should be put in a blender and blended till they turn into a fine powder. This powder can then be mixed with either olive oil or honey and applied as a scrub for the body and face. The best thing about the scrub is that it is long lasting owing to being in a powdered form.
3. Almond and Mayonnaise Scrub
Ingredients:
½ cup chopped almonds
3/4th cup Mayonnaise
Preparation:
Mayonnaise might not be good for the tummy but has excellent conditioning value and hence is applied both as a hair mask and for facial purposes. Put the chopped almonds and the mayonnaise in a blender and grind it till it turns into a thick paste. It is important to grind the paste into a consistent and thick one without any chunks. The paste should be then applied on the face and body and left to dry for 15 minutes, after which you can gently exfoliate and rinse with warm water.
