6. Plan on the accessories
Accessories such as storage boxes, take home containers, cutlery, tissues, tablecloth and a large buffet table by itself are usually given least importance during a potluck party when they actually matter a lot. So make sure when you plan, you include them as well in the scheme of things.
7. Label the dishes
Any potluck party is bound to have a lot of food. Containers can go unidentified and so can food. So label your dishes to avoid last minute havoc. Labeling with ingredients also helps guests stay away from a specific food that has components they are allergic to.
8. Decide the time of the party
Just before the party starts, make sure all dishes have reached the table. Have an oven and fridge handy so that dishes that have to kept warm or cold respectively, get that done and aren’t too far away from the buffet table as well.
9. Create backup dishes
If all guests confirm to the time and schedule without changes, this should not be a problem. But just in case you have someone who cannot confirm, you should be able to have one backup dish ready just in case.
10. Don’t forget to make the dish look appealing
The look of the dish is as important as its taste. There are bound to be too many guests and if all the trouble you’ve taken to make the dish should be paid off, make sure your dish looks beautiful and delicious.
