6. Wild West Theme
Wanted posters, banners, playing cards, cactus plants and ropes can be used to create the whole Wild West theme for a New Year party. As far as costumes go, guests can come dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls, Calamity Jane, Marshalls, Sheriffs and even wild game for that matter. Bandanas, cowboy hats, guns, vests and sheriff badges would be great accessories. As the theme is Wild West, make sure that meats like barbecue ribs, roast, chilli, Virginia ham, buffalo steaks, and sausages are a part of the menu. Beverages like beer, ginger ale and lemonade are popular western favorites.
7. Pirate Theme
The pirate theme is loved by all age groups. As the name suggests, this kind of a party involves guests coming dressed as pirates. Pirate hats, swords and daggers, expandable telescopes, pistols, hooks, eye patches, boots, sashes, tights and toy parrots are essential components of the costumes for this theme. The ambience can be made more pirate-like using skulls, pirate flags, wooden ships, feather parrots, treasure maps and chests, pirate hooks, pirate swords. Don’t forget to add food items like sea food, goldfish crackers and barbecue fish to the menu to make all the pirates go “Arr”.
8. Space Theme
A New Year party can also be celebrated using an outer space theme. The dress code being limited to the theme, almost always guests come dressed as aliens from other planets. However, they can also choose to dress up like planets, the sun, the moon or the stars. Decorate your venue in such a way, that it resembles a galaxy. You can have artificial planets and stars all around the place. Balloons, confetti and other decorations of the venue should be revolving around the central. For the food, you can choose to decorate different food items in such a way that they resemble space in some way or the other, like, moon shaped cakes, star shaped marshmallows, candies resembling the planets and so on.
9. Underwater Theme
As the name states, the dress code has to be restricted to everything underwater. Guests can come dressed up as mermaids and fishes and also popular underwater characters like SpongeBob Square Pants. Jewelry made up of sea shells and underwater flowers would act as great accessories. The aquarium would be the most apt venue for this theme. If that is not possible, you can still decorate the place and create an atmosphere of being underwater. Use blue color lights wherever possible. Decorative paper can be used to make underwater plants and fishes. You can also paint an underwater scene in the form of murals over the walls in order to add to the effects.
10. Cocktail Theme
Cocktail theme parties have always gone well with people. Cocktail parties are both refined and stylish and easy to arrange as they require comparatively lesser preparation. The dress code for women would be cocktail dresses and for men it would be crisp suits. Decoration can be minimalistic and not create any hassles. Make sure you make arrangements for a range of popular cocktails.
