10 Body Language Mistakes to Avoid During an Interview
6. Don’t create distractions
Avoid playing with your hair, biting your nails (even in the waiting area) or fidgeting with any object lying around you. This clearly shows you are nervous and also distracts the interviewer. You want him to focus on your answers rather than get distracted.
7. Check your facial expressions
Make sure your facial expressions are in tune with what you are saying. If there is a mismatch, the interviewer will know you are either lying or making up stuff. Not only words, even your eyes should be convincing.
8. Look professional
Don’t wear loose clothes hanging from your body. Make sure they are crisp and properly ironed. Your hair should be neatly tied. A messy look shows direct lack of interest.
9. Avoid falling around
Look around properly when you enter the interviewer’s cabin. Take your steps properly so that you don’t fall. Do not slouch and walk. Stand up tall and walk with a straight back and a smile on your face.
10. Don’t take a lot of time to find your papers
Do not keep your papers in complicated files and folders. These increase complications and hence you take more time to find the right document. Keep them organized in order of priority beforehand in a simple file so they are easy to find.
