5 Tips to Make Your Resume Stand Out
4. Make a resume in the form of a powerpoint
You can use this idea whether you are using a digital resume or a conventional printed resume. Forget about a traditional format in which you may have been creating resumes all these years. Include content in the slides by imagining a powerpoint presentation about yourself. How would you sell yourself to someone? Use a healthy mix of short pointers and images to make your powerpoint resume attractive and conversational.
5. Add your social media pages to your resume
Instead of worrying about hiding your social media profile from potential employers, use it to your advantage. Clean up your social media profiles and include hyperlinks to all of them in your resume. If you are applying for an art, design or writing related job, you can also include links to your Flickr and Instagram account. If you have a blog which is relevant to you field of work, include that too. Show your employers that your social media pages are your assets.
6. Use font and color to your advantage
As a general rule of thumb, conventional resumes don’t allow the use of too much color or varied font. But you can use this combination sparsely to highlight certain key features of your resume in a way which you may deem professionally appropriate.
