6 Tips for Safe Internet Banking

6 Tips for Safe Internet Banking

Online banking or internet banking has become a part of our lives these days. Banks in order to be effective and more customer-friendly have made it possible for you to make transactions sitting in the comfort of your home. There are no more long lines at the cashiers and you don’t have to make a mad dash to the bank before closing hours. All you need is a smart phone these days to do a lot of things. But as easy and comfortable as it is to bank from home, internet banking can also have its disadvantages and you need to be sure that your account details are safe from hackers. Here are some important tips for safe internet banking.

1. Change your password every month or every few months

It is always safe to change your password every few months or every month as this will reduce the chances of online theft and hacking. Change your password and make sure you remember it. If you think you will forget it store it in a place where you can be sure no one else can access it. Do not keep your online passwords in your phone.

2. If you are accessing your online account from another machine, make sure you sign out completely and delete all the cookies

Try to use your personal computer or devices to do online transactions or banking. If you must use another machine, make sure you sign out completely. After signing out you also should delete all the cookies. It is also recommended that you delete the page you accessed from the history section.

3. Read carefully the mails you receive from your bank

It is very important that you read carefully the instructions or any mail that you receive from your bank. This helps you to make sure that you are not answering any mails from another source.
