6 Myths You Must Know About Diabetes
4. An improper diet causes diabetes
A diet that is high on aerated drinks or loaded with sugar may increase your risk of diabetes but unless you are predisposed to getting diabetes, diet alone cannot cause diabetes. But that also does not give you a free pass when it comes to sugar. Lots of sugar in the diet can cause obesity and eventually you might be under high risk of developing diabetes.
5. All diabetics when they do not take care of their blood sugar levels eventually end up on insulin
Not all diabetics end up getting insulin shots. Going on insulin depends on the progress of the disease and mostly it is not your fault. Type II diabetes can easily be brought under control with medicine, diet and exercise.
6. You cannot exercise a lot when you are a diabetic
This is not true. On the other hand, you need to get as much as exercise you possibly could. When you are insulin your blood sugar levels may go down dangerously low, making you weak and faint and letting you think you cannot exercise. But when you are on insulin, you should also monitor the levels you inject and also check your blood sugar levels periodically and not stop exercising.
Diabetes is not a killer disease. Even type I diabetes can be brought under control these days and medicine is just advancing when it comes to treating diabetes.
