How To Teach Young Kids Not To Swear?

4. Find out about his/her peer group

Find out from exactly where your child is picking up swear words. Is it the kind of pals he/she is moving around with, or is it due to excessive exposure to media? Work accordingly and don’t just ignore the issue. Explain to him/her how well-cultured, well-mannered people never use swear words. Tell your child how bad words can hurt a person. Be soft and rational when explaining.

5. Be realistic

Your child is not going to stop swearing unless he/she is absolutely convinced that it won’t be rewarded with attention. So, don’t expect the habit to disappear too quickly. Continue following these tips, and believe in your child’s ability to make positive changes, even if things don’t improve as quickly as you would like them to.

Children are like sponges who soak the atmosphere around them. They naturally imitate what they see happening around them. As parents, it’s up to you to provide your kids with the right role models to follow and the right atmosphere to grow in.
