6 Weird Sports You didn’t Know About
4. Cheese rolling
More than a sport, this can be better described as a 200 year old English tradition followed on the Spring Bank holiday. People gather on the Cooper’s Hill in Gloucester all eager to chase the cheese. A seven pound stack of cheese is rolled down the hill for the participants to follow. They can walk, run, slide, roll or anything they like to reach down. One who touches the bottom first gets to take the cheese home.
5. Toe wrestling
This game is the toe version of arms wrestling, where all rules remain the same. The only difference is that opponents lock their toes and try their best to push the other out of the ‘toedium’. The World Toe Wrestling championship dates back to the year 1976. Now the championship is held at the Bentley Brook Inn, near Ashbourne, UK.
6. Bed racing
First introduced in 1965, this race was restricted only to the marines, Army and Navy personnel. This is a 3 km race that comprises running, climbing and crossing a river. The game requires a bed decorated as per theme and 6 participants plus one on the bed in each team. The bed should run on four wheels and float when required. The annual Bed race is held in North Yorkshire town of Knaresborough in England and is now open to everyone.
