6 Reasons Child Stars Go Crazy
4. Pressures of growing up under the spotlight
Imagine millions of people watching you grow up and every milestone of your life being written about and photographed. Any sense of normalcy is gone and it is highly stressful to grow up under the limelight.
5. Trying to break out of the image
It is more difficult for child actors who have acted in a series or in sequels where they keep playing similar characters. They are shown as sweet little angels. As these child actors grow up, they no longer want to be seen as they became known to the world. They try to break out of the image and end up going crazy in the process. They feel like they do not have an identity of their own and it is true in some cases as they have been acting for most of their formative years.
6. Suppressing rebellion for a long time
Most teenagers rebel in some way or the other, but child actors aren’t normal teenagers or normal kids. They would love to rebel but are not able to because of movie contracts, financial obligations and strict parents. All the suppressed rebellion and anger eventually comes out making them go nuts.
It is not easy being a child actor and unlike other industries it is not considered child labor. The kids lose much of their innocence and happy times when thrust into an adult world and when movie offers or acting chances dry up, they are left rudderless as this is all they know. Their insecurities too make them go crazy at some point.
