4 Traditional Easter Recipes

3. White Borscht Soup

One of the quintessential Polish Easter recipes, the soup is best had in the morning of Easter or during dinner. To a large pot, add six cups of fat removed sausage water and garlic. Let it boil and then simmer for five minutes. Use a fork to blend sour cream and flour. Mix hot sausage water and transfer to the pot. Stir until soup thickens. Introduce hard cooked sliced eggs, boiled potatoes and Polish kielbasa sausages. Season as per your need and finally you can either add a dash of vinegar or a pinch of sugar. Tear rye bread and pour hot soup over it before eating.

4. Easter Nests

Mix one stick butter, half cup evaporated milk, two cups of granulated sugar and six tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa and bring to a roaring boil. Take off flame and let it cool a little. To this add one teaspoon vanilla, half cup peanut butter, two and half cups of fast cooking oatmeal and half cup flaked coconut. Take heaped tablespoons of the mixture and drop on waxed paper. Make indentations like that of a nest while it is still warm. They become firm when they dry. You can use these nests to store and eat jelly beans, candied hearts and other candies.

These are some of the traditional Easter recipes. Look for some more or customize them to celebrate Easter in the spirit it is meant to be.
