3 Ways to Make Nail Polish Last Longer
Nail polish can sometimes take so much time to apply, but just in a matter of hours, it seems to fade away leaving us frustrated! But, worry not; we have come up with some simple and cool techniques to make nail polish last longer.
1. Cleaning
In a hurry to apply nail polish, some of us begin the routine without doing the necessary prerequisite. However, keep in mind that cleaning your hands and nails before applying nail polish can make nail polish last longer.
If you have traces of old nail polish, remove it completely with the help of nail polish remover. Even if you haven’t painted your nails recently, you could wipe your nails with nail polish remover. Then soak your nails and hands in soapy water for some time. Scrub your hands and nails with a hand-scrub to get rid of oil and dirt. Let your hands and nails dry of fully before applying nail polish.
2. Coating
Before beginning to apply the nail polish, it is best to apply some base coat. The base coat must be thin and dry before you commence the nail polish applying act. It is probably a good idea to buy quick dry nail polish.
Apply a thin first coat of nail polish horizontally on your nails and let it dry. On top of this, apply the second coat. Make sure that you do not apply very thick coats, as your nail polish will only peel, if done so. As the final coat, you can apply some clear nail polish. It is important to let each coat dry before beginning the next one.
3. Drying
Let the nail polish dry naturally, or you could use a blow dryer if you are in a hurry. But hold the dryer at a safe distance from your nails. For the nail polish to last longer, you can soak your hands in cold water for sometime. The cold water will solidify the nail polish thus ensuring that it doesn’t come off that quickly.
It is also necessary that you do not let your hands and nails dry. So, moisturize them regularly so as to prevent the nail polish from cracking or peeling away.
