10 Foods to Avoid On a Diet
6. High-fat dairy products
Dairy products, which are high in fats such as milk and yogurt, though provide you with protein and calcium, they bulk up the calories, fats and cholesterol too. One cup of whole milk contains 4.5g saturated fat and 24mg cholesterol. Instead have low fat or reduced fat versions of milk, yogurt and cheese which are widely available in the market.
7. Protein bars
Protein or fiber bars are just a mask to hoodwink you into buying them. They are nothing more than candy bars, if you compare them according to their nutrient value. Switch to a fruit instead and if you can’t avoid them, then have one with the fewest ingredients. But don’t make it a habit.
8. Chocolates, cakes, candy
Yes, you knew these were somewhere on the list, right? How can they miss the bandwagon on a ‘foods to avoid’ list? Chocolates, cakes, donuts, pies, candies and some ice creams are all loaded with calories and fats. So you either stop eating them altogether or limit the amount you eat drastically.
9. Fried foods
The best example of fried foods would be potato chips and fried chicken. Why we don’t recommend it? Well, because they are also infused with calories. Moreover, the oils used to fry them in restaurants is reused. This can lead to various diseases.
10. White bread
Cut down on your intake of white bread instantly as it not only contains more calories, but is also not very nutritious. You can include whole wheat or whole grain bread in your diet instead as it will keep you full for a longer time since it contains fiber.
